Do I need a certified translation or a regular translation?
If a German authority, court, university, or official institution has asked for a translation, you almost certainly need a certified translation. For everything else, such as business documents, personal correspondence, and website copy, a regular translation is usually sufficient. Not sure which applies to your situation? Just ask.
What is a publicly appointed and sworn translator?
A publicly appointed and sworn translator has been officially appointed by a German court and has taken an oath to translate accurately and truthfully. Only a publicly appointed and sworn translator can produce certified translations that are legally recognized by German courts, authorities, universities, and official institutions, including for EU-wide and international purposes. This is different from simply calling oneself a "certified translator," which is not a protected title in Germany.
Are your certified translations accepted by German authorities and courts?
Yes. As a publicly appointed and sworn translator for English and German, my certified translations are legally recognized by German courts, authorities, universities, and official institutions, as well as internationally, including for US immigration (USCIS) applications.
What kinds of documents do you translate?
A wide range: contracts, court documents, certificates, diplomas, transcripts, immigration papers, financial statements, correspondence, and more. If you're not sure whether your document falls within my scope, just get in touch.
My document is in English — can you translate it into German?
Yes. I translate in both directions: English into German and German into English.
Can I send you my documents by email?
Yes, by email, WhatsApp, or by post if you prefer. There's no need to come in person. For a quick quote, a photo or scan via WhatsApp is usually the fastest option.
Can I receive my certified translation digitally?
Yes. I offer fully digital certified translations with a Qualified Electronic Signature (QES) via Skribble. This means your translation is legally valid across the EU without any printing or postage. You receive it directly by email. If you prefer a physical copy with a wet stamp and signature, that's also available by post or local pickup in Nuremberg.
Are my documents treated confidentially?
Yes. All documents and correspondence are handled with professional discretion. I do not share or pass on your documents to third parties.
How much does a translation cost?

How is interpreting priced?
Interpreting is typically charged by the hour or by assignment, depending on the type and duration. Additional fees may apply for preparation time and travel. Get in touch with the details of your appointment and I'll provide a quote.
Do you travel for interpreting assignments?
I am based in Nuremberg but travel throughout Germany for interpreting assignments, depending on the nature and scope of the job. Remote interpreting is also available. Get in touch with the details and I'll let you know what's possible.
How long will it take?
Turnaround depends on the length and complexity of the document and my current workload. Most standard certified translations of single documents are turned around within a few business days. Urgent requests are possible. Let me know your deadline when you get in touch.
